Project management

We provide a high-quality project management service for educational and trade publishing from initial strategic planning to final press-ready files. Our experience and expertise in all areas of educational publishing both print books and digital products enables us to keep close control of schedule and budget every step of the way, often allowing us to streamline procedures and reduce costs. We use our in-house typesetting, editorial and picture research services, or work with your chosen freelancers, as required.

We have many years of experience in all areas of the curriculum, exam boards and Education Ministries, both for the UK and international markets from early primary up to the IB Diploma level. We have most recently worked on bespoke courses for the Middle East, helping with project set-up and driving the project as it progresses. We work closely with a range of subject specialist authors, educational experts, editors, designers, typesetters (both UK and offshore) illustrators, picture researchers, photographers, translators, proofreaders, technical readers and indexers to ensure that your project runs smoothly from start to finish, on time and within budget.

Templates

We take a design, either produced here, or by your chosen creative and using our technical experience create an efficient, yet simple, template that can be laid out to a consistent standard by typesetters. Our templates are provided with guidelines and instructions so everyone really does work from the same page. It saves time and money in the later stages of a project to have a good foundation to build on. Our templates work particularly well in conjunction with author word templates. Providing authors with word templates gives them a better understanding of how their text relates to the page design, it also means the basic styles for the page are applied at this stage, speeding up the layout process.

We ensure that any of your required production standards are adhered to during construction of the template, including checking that the fonts are licensed and appropriate for the job.

Typesetting

There's nothing we like more than a straightforward typesetting job. We have been typesetting for 30 years and there isn't a lot that we haven't dealt with in that time. Having worked on all components of educational schemes – Student's Books, Workbooks, Teachers' Guides and Teaching Resources, for all levels from pre‐school to A‐level and beyond, we have the experience and knowledge to get the job done with minimum fuss and maximum results. We are comfortable with just about anything you can throw at us, from complicated A-level maths equations to modern foreign languages and arabic typesetting.

We can also offer advice with difficulties and have lots of experience in taking over troublesome projects, often with only days before press date, and suppling corrected print‐ready files on time.
We can convert files from earlier applications to Indesign™ which is useful if a series needs updating – and have also recreated Indesign™ files from PDFs.

Digital products

We have experience in producing multi‐media presentations for use on interactive whiteboards, most often as Powerpoint™slideshows. These range from pictures to video/sound clips and simple animations. We can produce a custom html interface that will run from a CD/DVD in a web browser so the teacher can navigate to the required slides with ease. The whole thing is then tested and supplied as a DVD master file ready for press.
